Statement on Violence

The Downtown Neighborhoods Association is committed to being a safe, inclusive, and caring community for all our neighbors—renters, homeowners, and those who are unhoused.

We believe that violence against civilians, no matter the source, has no place in a just and healthy society. Our neighborhoods should be places where people feel safe, respected, and protected. Harmful law enforcement actions, raids, and other forms of state or institutional violence undermine the wellbeing of our community and erode trust, stability, and belonging.

As a nonpartisan organization we affirm that community safety, human dignity, and the right to live without fear are fundamental values.

We commit to standing with our neighbors through advocacy, by calling for accountability and justice at the city, state, and national levels, and by working to ensure our downtown neighborhoods remain compassionate, welcoming, and protective places for everyone.

If you have concerns about your safety in our community, please contact us at info@abqdna.org and we'll bring your story to the attention of our city officials anonymously. Or if you prefer, you can contact them directly at https://www.cabq.gov/council/find-your-councilor/contact-all-councilors.

Recruitment Survey
The DNA wants to engage with more residents in our neighborhood.

We'd love to see you at our next meeting.

Tell us what works for you, and what keeps you from attending.

We want YOU on the DNA BOARD!

Any resident of the Downtown Neighborhood (see map) , including renters, may petition to join the Board. At DNA’s next meeting the current Board members will vote to approve you. Our By-Laws allow for 15 Board members.  We currently have ten Board members.

Send your name to Danny@abqdna.org.

As a Board member, you will share your opinions and ideas on the allocation of our resources to improve and maintain our unique neighborhood.

2025 Annual Meeting

DNA's Annual Meeting was a huge success.  About 50 people listened attentively to informative talks by Tim Keller, with Field Representative Markela Clinton navigating the slides, followed by District 2 Council Member Joaquin Baca (seen here), concluding with Peter Rice of Downtown Albuquerque News.

Attendees were greeted at the door with a large map of the DNA and asked to place a sticker on the map showing the location of their home.  They could also leave their name in the raffle drawing for two gift certificates to Cafe Lush. Drawn at the conclusion of the meeting, two winning attendees left with very happy smiles.

20 folks signed up to receive our spiffy new newsletter, which will be in your in-boxes soon.

Cafe Lush catered the sandwiches and chips so all attendees were well fed during the meeting. Thank you Cafe Lush.
