Historic Home Tour
Mother's Day 2026
The DNA is looking for homes to feature in our next Historic Home Tour.
Every even numbered year, on Mother's Day, the Downtown Neighborhood opens some of its beautiful homes to the public. Selected residents show off a diverse array of homes, architectural styles, and decoration schemes. Visitors from other neighborhoods, around the state, and even around the country attend this unique event.

If you are interested in showing your home and/or garden or know of one you think would like to participate contact secretary@abqdna.org
We would like to find homes on the north side of Lomis for the 2026 Home Tour.
The Historic Home & Garden Tour (HHT) is also the primary fundraiser for the DNA. Every two years we replenish our treasury with funds that are used to support local initiatives, events, schools, residents and more.
Some ways the DNA distributed funds in 2024:
~ Hosted 900+ people at our Historic Home Tour.
~ Donated $800 to Harwood Art School.
~ Donated $1,000 to Lew Wallace Elementary.
~ Donated $800 to Forester Street residents to support the annual Halloween extravaganza.
~ Donated $500 to FUSION!
~ Held a successful National Neighborhood Night Out (NNNO) with music, games and food…providing dinner for more than 75 people.
CommUnity Trees
Would you like to have one of your street trees decorated with hand-made tree bark “ornaments” that display positive words and images? The DNA will come to a sidewalk near you and host a painting party. Contact: secretary@abqdna.org
Believing that we have so much more in common than what separates us, the DNA initiated a program to decorate trees in neighborhoods and at schools across town with hand-made tree bark “ornaments” that display positive words and images. The act of creating the ornaments, and decorating the trees, creates conversation, creates community.

We want YOU on the DNA BOARD!

Any resident of the Downtown Neighborhood (see map) , including renters, may petition to join the Board. At DNA’s next meeting the current Board members will vote to approve you. Our By-Laws allow for 15 Board members. We currently have ten Board members.
Meet the current board members here.
Send your name to: Danny@abqdna.org.
As a board member, you will share your opinions and ideas on the allocation of our resources to improve and maintain our unique neighborhood.

Community

News

With the unfortunate news regarding SNAP benefits, the DNA is encouraging all of our neighbors to do what they can in supporting our community in need. If you are able please consider taking non-perishable food items to the Roadrunner or Rio Grande food banks. It’s important that we all do our part in supporting one another during these difficult times.

Thank you to neighbors that generously donated money to the greater downtown area Road Runner Food Bank Drive. The goal of $10,000 was exceeded by more than $5,000. Way to help out neighbors!

Green Waste Curbside Collection

image

December 1 - December 12, 2025
The City of Albuquerque’s Solid Waste Management Department provides residential Green Waste collection at no additional charge two times each year. During collection events, residents should place their Green Waste at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the day of their regular trash collection.
The green waste is processed into a rough chip mulch and used to help prevent erosion at the Cerro Colorado Landfill.
